Kim Baird, RN, MSN, FNP
Director and FNP Care Provider
Woodbine Family Care Center, Woodbine, GA

What are your privileges and prescriptive authority?

I have hospital privileges at the nearest hospital, 30 miles away. I choose to do this because of the importance of continuity of care for my rural patients. It is a comfort for my patients to see a familiar face when they have to travel to the hospital. I have admitting privileges to Camden Medical Center. It adds at least 2 hours to the day when I am required to make a hospital visit. Furthermore, my hospital visits are not covered under my contract with the hospital. For these visits, I bill the patient's insurance company separately. In order to do this, I have made applications with several insurance companies.
