Driver:
Quality Improvement
A large
body of research documenting serious problems due to poorly developed
systems of care has led to an emphasis on quality in healthcare policy
(Kohn, Corrigan & Donaldson, 2000; Committee on Health Care Quality in
America, 2001). Hospitals respond by investing in quality solutions such
as integrated information systems, built in redundancy, team delivered
care, and other system-wide changes. How do you think these initiatives
impact healthcare costs and access to care? |
Quality Improvement ->
Increased Costs -> Reduced Access
These large investments
on quality system improvement will raise the overhead costs of care delivery
which may raise insurance premiums, reduce provider pay and reduce health
insurance access.
