NHLBI recommends four components for the long-term treatment of asthma. Knowledge of, and adherence to,
these guidelines will enable you to deliver quality care to children with asthma:

Assessment and Monitoring:
Identify asthma symptoms and classify asthma severity levels.

Pharmacologic Treatment:
Actively manage asthma symptoms and inflammation with medications appropriate
for the asthma severity level.

Control of Factors Contributing to Asthma:
Identify and control asthma triggers through avoidance or preventive measures.
Patient Education for Partnership:
Educate and develop a partnership with the patient to ensure greater adherence
