A team may adjourn once its task/purpose is completed. Many teams never adjourn, and organizations, including health care organizations, may retain teams that drain organizational resources through meetings that are no longer necessary. Recognize the need to adjourn and the reluctance of some team members to say goodbye by acknowledging the work of the team and providing a closing meeting for the team members to disengage.
