LOCATION

Determine:

  • Where is the symptom located on or in the body? Can the patient point to the pain?

  • Location can also refer to where the patient is/was when the symptoms

began. (This question also may be asked under Aggravating Factors.)

Examples:

  • The headaches are always in the left front of my head.

  • When my stomach hurts, I always feel it right here (points to mid-epigastrum).

  • Every time I look down from more than two stories high, I get dizzy and sick to my stomach. This time, it began when I was on the top of the Washington Monument, and it hasn’t gone away yet.
