Promoting Healthy Behaviors: The Rose Bloom Case

As a health professional, one of the ways you can help ensure the long-term health of your clients is to promote a healthy lifestyle and healthy behaviors. Healthy People 2010 sets national health objectives for the United States and challenges individuals, communities, and professionals to take steps to ensure that good health and long life are enjoyed by all. But how do you promote healthy behaviors when clients rarely present them as problems?

With practice using a few simple strategies, you can learn to identify unhealthy behaviors and intervene using an appropriate strategy based on the patient's readines to change a behavior. In this case study, a patient will present with a typical problem and your role is to meet the challenge by promoting the adoption of healthy behaviors in an appropriate manner.
